Notice to Florida
Leader Readers
Oxendine Publishing has been proud to serve
the Florida education community for the past 22
years through our magazines and awards programs.
However, the focus of our company has evolved, and our new concentration is
Student Government training. We’ve dedicated a great deal of time and
resources to develop the American
Student Government Association—the national professional association
serving Student Governments—as well as related
conferences and
consulting services.
Because of this new direction, we have decided to put Florida Leader
magazine up for sale. Our company will no longer
be producing the magazine, the Best of Florida Schools Awards, or the
Florida College Student of the Year Award. Yet we hope that a new owner will
continue to publish Florida Leader and sponsor its important awards
programs.
We thank you all for your support and hope that you will consider joining
ASGA or subscribing to
Student Leader
magazine, our national publication. If you have any questions,
please send an e-mail or call us
at 352-373-6907.

COLLEGE
FLORIDA'S
BEST

midnight munchies, we here at Florida Leader
scour the state for the most delicious morsels to
include in our "Best of Florida Schools" issue. For the 16th
year, we're pleased to serve up a smorgasbord of 109 general
categories, chock full of delectable dorm
activities, savory service projects, and
everything in between. Then for dessert, we wheel out the freshest college
newspapers and the most satisfying Student Governments in Florida. If
you still have room for more, check out our Web
exclusives. |
Florida’s Shining Students
Who at your school are among “Florida’s Finest?"
Each month, we feature students from across the state who have dreamed
big, worked hard, and made things happen on their campuses and in their
community. This month,
Karen Poritz
of Hillsborough Community College
sees Hanukkah as a metaphor in her daily life.
Also,
meet Palm Beach
Atlantic University's
Nicole Greenwald, who helps a youth group come alive with love.
SG
Leaders, We Want You!
Every president should have his portrait done.
You don't have to go to the Oval Office to get to
know the President. Meet the SG
leaders
from across the state who tell you about their biggest challenges,
accomplishments, and influences.
We’re
proud to add
Bijal Chhadva,
Student Body president at
the University of South Florida,
to our

Mission
Statement
Florida Leader’s mission is to recognize and celebrate the outstanding achievements of
Florida
students, educators, and educational institutions.
About
Florida Leader
Since 1983,
college students have turned to Florida Leader magazine to learn
about leadership training, recruiting and motivating group members, working
well with advisors and administration, and much more. In three themed issues
a year, Florida Leader celebrates the best, finds the finest, and
showcases the Florida College
Student of the Year.
Florida Leader publishes three theme
issues for college students:
Top Florida Leadership TrainingFlorida
Leader presents the best in leadership training in its “Top Florida
Leadership Training” issue. This issue highlights where students can get the
training they need to be top-notch—on campus and beyond. Published each
fall, it’s a great source for new students to explore the leadership
opportunities on campus.
Best of Florida SchoolsThis hotly anticipated annual issue features the best
of everything, from Student Governments and campus newspapers to the best cheerleaders,
mascots, classes, and college towns. The "Best of Florida Schools" also is
reprinted as Florida Leader's Graduation high school edition.
Student of the YearMeet the 20 winners of the prestigious annual "Florida College Student of the
Year Award." In its 17th year, the Student of the Year Award honors Florida's most
outstanding campus leaders, generates statewide media attention, and donates almost
$60,000 in scholarships and prizes to the winners.
Florida Leader publishes
two issues for public and private high
schools statewide:
Since 1989,
college-bound officers of groups such as Student Government, volunteer organizations,
newspaper staffs, and honor societies read Florida Leader for high school
students. Find out about college leadership, fundraising projects, apathy solutions, and
more in the current issue.
